Young Adult Programming

Teen Programming


All Month Long
Teens complete a ballot voting for their favorites of the last year in movies,
TV, books, etc. Teens can vote once a day and receive a treat. 
Votes will be tallied at the end of the month. Winners will be announced on October 5.







Hurd/St. Andrews Golden Ticket Giveaway
All Month Long
Celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month with Hurd/ St Andrews Library. Show a staff member your library card and receive a golden ticket. At the end of the month, 5 golden ticket winners will receive cool prizes. One entry per day.

TeenSpot Black History "A Difference Made" Essay Contest
Throughout January
This essay contest is open to all Charleston area students in grades 6-12. One winner will be chosen from middle and high school to receive a prize package. Entries must be submitted by Feb. 26, and the winner will be notified March 4. For contest details, contact: Patrice Smith at 843-766-2546. 







TeenSpot Celebrates National Book Blitz Month
Throughout January 
In honor of National Book Blitz Month, vote for your favorite between two books each week. Those who chose the winning book will be entered into a weekly drawing for prizes. 






TeenSpot Wired Monday/Teen Ambassadors Meeting
Monday, January 4 at 4 p.m.
Do a little homework, play computer games or just chat with friends during an open technology lab. Also help plan fun and interesting teen programs at the library.

TeenSpot Short Stack Book Club
Monday, January 25 at 4 p.m.
Some Girls Are by Courtney Summer. 
Climbing to the top of the social ladder is hard—falling from it is even harder.  Regina Afton used to be a member of the Fearsome Fivesome, an all-girl clique both feared and revered by the students at Hallowell High... until vicious rumors about her—and her best friend's boyfriend—start going around.  Now Regina's been frozen out, and her ex-best friends are out for revenge.  If Regina were guilty, it would be one thing, but the rumors are far from the terrifying truth, and the bullying is getting more intense by the day.  She takes solace in the company of Michael Hayden, a misfit with a tragic past whom she herself used to bully.  Friendship doesn't come easily for these onetime enemies, and as Regina works hard to make amends for her past, she realizes Michael could be more than just a friend...if threats from the Fearsome Foursome don't break them both first. Refreshments will be served, and attendees will be entered into a $10 Amazon gift card prize drawing.

TeenSpot Invent a Holiday for August (teens)
Throughout August
Teens invent a holiday for the month of August. Place your entries in the Invent a Holiday display. Each week a holiday will be picked and the inventor wins a prize.







TeenSpot Back To School Crossword Puzzle 
Friday, August 1 – Wednesday, August 13
Take a moment to find all the words in the crossword puzzle, and be entered into a drawing for a free gift basket of school supplies.

Frankenstein's creature finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans.

Hidden in the library are symbols that represent the different factions found in Divergent. Find of the symbols to be invited to an exclusive Divergent viewing party.

SAT 101 @ STA TeenSpot
Saturday, December 1 at 4:00pm
Hands on training class demonstrating Test preparation and practice by using The Learning Express Library research database.  Class limited to 7 students between the ages of 12-17





 St. Andrews TeenSpot Presents “A Thousand Words” Ages 12-17
Monday, December 3 at 4 pm
A Marine travels to Louisiana after serving three tours in Iraq and searches for the unknown woman he believes was his good luck charm during the war. Rated PG-13; 101 mins. Refreshments will be provided.
