St. Andrews Library TeenSpot Surface Recommends

All Month Long

Fill your fish with a recommend book, bring it to the reference surface desk, and receive a treat.

St. Andrews Library TeenSpot Theater presents “Lincoln”

Monday, June 3 at 2:00pm

As the Civil War continues to rage, America's president struggles with continuing carnage on the battlefield and as he fights with many inside his own cabinet on the decision to emancipate the slaves. Rated PG-13; 150 mins. Refreshments will be provided.

St. Andrew’s Library TeenSpot Title Twist Tuesdays

Tuesdays June 4, 11, 18, and 25 ALL DAY

Unscramble the letters to find out the mystery book and win a sweet treat. Win a bonus treat if you can name the author of the book.

St. Andrew’s Library TeenSpot Theater presents “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”

Monday, June 10 at 2:00pm

A younger and more reluctant Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, sets out on an "unexpected journey" to the Lonely Mountain with a spirited group of Dwarves to reclaim their stolen mountain home from a dragon named Smaug. Rated PG-13; 169 mins. Refreshments will be provided.

Tuesday, June 11 at 1:00pm

Come with a big appetite and a strong stomach—it’s time to face your fears! Registration not required. Prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants.

Play a game of cyber book jacket bingo game highlighting the 2013 Summer Reading theme, Beneath the Surface. See the information desk for further details.

A homicide investigator digs deeper into a case involving a trained military sniper who shot five random victims. Rated PG-13; 130 mins. Refreshments will be provided.

CCPL Teen Summer Reading 2013

June 1- August 10, 2013

This summer, read something - a book, magazine, newspaper, graphic novel, website ... anything ... and win some great prizes. Stop by any branch of the Charleston County Public Library, and tell us what you've read by filling out a Summer Reading entry form. Or, to make it even easier, use the link above to enter online starting June 1. 

Once entered, you are automatically entered in the biweekly prize drawings.

McDonald's just for entering.

Bi-weekly Prize Drawings

Winners will receive prizes including free passes to Whirlin' Waters and other Charleston County water parks, gift certificates to iTunes, bookstores and other local stores. 

Read 800 pages (Don't worry, we'll keep track for you.)You will earn a Beneath the Surface T-shirt, one pass to a RiverDogs game and entry into the Grand Prize drawing at your local CCPL branch.

Grand Prize Drawings (read 800+ pages to qualify)
Each participating CCPL branch library will hold a Grand Prize drawing at the end of the summer. Prizes vary by location (minimum $50 value).

Beneath the Surface Survey
What do you have to say? Stop by any participating branch, fill out Beneath the Surface survey and get a sweet treat. For students entering grades 6-12 only. Surveys will be displayed in the library through August 10, 2013.

How It Works!!!! Win prizes. Get a coupon for ice cream or fries from McDonald’s just for entering (here or on paper at any branch). Anything counts! Read anything, and we mean ANYTHING, to get credit toward your page tally. Listen to an audiobook? It counts (just look up the number of pages in the print version, either on our catalog or amazon.com). Read a screenload of text messages? It counts! Estimate the number of (book) pages it translates to. Win more prizes. For every entry you submit, you get a chance to win our bi-weekly prize drawings. Prizes include water park passes, gift cards, and more! Win even more prizes. Reach the 800-page goal and automatically get: a snazzy summer reading t-shirt, a ticket to a special RiverDogs game, a coupon for Sweet CeCe’s frozen yogurt, a coupon for a value meal at McDonald’s, AND an entry into our Grand Prize Drawing.
