Parents are invited to join community vendors and learn about resources to help children from birth to beyond.

Read for the Record
Jumpstart's Read for the Record aims to bring children and adults together to read the same book on the same day in homes and communities all over the world. Enjoy listening to The Bear Ate Your Sandwich by Julia Sarcone-Roach and participating in fun activities.


Saturday, October 29 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Family Fort Night
Bring blankets, sheets, and pillows and join us for stories, fort-making, and more after-hours fun! Families must arrive before 6:00 to participate.

PLAY: Jump Up and Dance or Sit Down and Roll! (ages 4-11)
Dance along with the Wii or play a board game.

PLAY:  STAR Therapy Dogs (ages 11 and younger)

Join us for a few spooky rounds of bingo.....if you dare! Small prizes awarded.

PLAY: Halloween Storytime & Mystery Monster Parts (ages 11 and younger)
Wear your Halloween costume, listen to some slightly scary stories and, if you dare, feel monster body parts!

Afterschool Cool:  Make It and Take It:  Fall Fun (ages 4-11)
Create a fun craft to enjoy throughout the season!

Help us brighten up the library by decorating our sidewalks with chalk as we blow bubbles in the fall breeze!

Design a maze, and enjoy other fun activities.

After-school Cool: Snap Circuits (ages 4-11)
Tuesday, August 30 at 4 p.m.
Snap Circuits make learning about electronics fun and easy for kids as they follow colorful pictures in manuals and build exciting projects that snap together.

On Your Mark, Get Set ... Read is for ages 11 and younger. Children receive prizes for reading or listening to stories at levels of 5, 15 and 30 hours. Awards include the S.C. Reading Medal, passes to local attractions, karate lessons and branch grand prizes. Enjoy nearly 700 programs that include magicians, storytellers, live theatre and other exciting events. 

Summer Reading for Babies is for pre-readers with activity sheets designed for caregivers and babies. Turn it in to win a board book and a free tote bag.




Kid's Paint
Tuesday, June 7 at 4 p.m.
Kick off Summer Reading by making artwork to be displayed in the library.







Porkchop Productions Presents 
The Tortoise and the Hare 
Thursday, June 9 at 2 p.m.
Enjoy a classic tale about healthy competition.

A Celebration of Life, Literacy and Legacy (All Ages)

Join us as we celebrate the life and legacy of Cynthia Graham Hurd. Sisters and brothers of the late Cynthia Graham Hurd present books they have donated to those in attendance to carry on her dream of literacy. Books are first come first served. Refreshments provided.

January 2016 Mock Caldecott Week 
January 4-9 

The Caldecott Medal is awarded every year by the American Library Association to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. Stop by the children's area to take a look at some contenders and cast your vote for the one you think is the best before the winner is announced on January 11th.






Afterschool Cool: Make a Pinecone Bird Feeder (ages 4-11) 
Tuesday, January 5 at 4 p.m. 
It's National Bird Day! Show the birds you care by making a bird feeder to hang in a tree at home. 

Afterschool Cool: Stories and a Craft (ages 4-11) 
Tuesday, January 12 at 4 p.m. 
Join us for great stories and a craft for school-age children. Today's activities will center around the book I Can Make a Difference by Marian Wright Edelman. 

Afterschool Cool: Green Thumbs (ages 4-11)

Learn about nature and make something cool with the Tri-County Clemson Master Gardeners.

Afterschool Cool: Life-Size Candy Land

Our program room will be transformed into a life-size Candy Land game board with YOU as the game piece! Play with your family or come with a friend to see who will win.
