Adult Programming


Winter Reading Bingo (ages 11 and younger)
Tuesday, January 3-Saturday, January 28
Pick up a bingo card from the Children’s Department, and complete one row of winter reading challenges for a prize. Complete the entire bingo card to be entered into the grand prize drawing.




Afterschool Cool: Art in the Afternoon 
Tuesday, January 3 at 4 p.m.
Learn about art, and create your own masterpiece during a visit by a special guest from the Gibbes Museum of Art.

Afterschool Cool: Pom Pom Painting
Tuesday, January 10 at 4 p.m.
Create a masterpiece with pom poms and paint.

Afterschool Cool: Green Thumbs 
Tuesday, January 17 at 4 p.m.
Learn about nature, and make something cool with the Tri-County Clemson Master Gardeners.

Afterschool Cool: CD Magic 
Tuesday, January 24 at 4 p.m.
Create a cool craft with old CDs, and watch magic happen.



Wii and Board Games (ages 4-11)
Saturday, January 7 at 11:00 a.m.
Dance along with the Wii, or play a family board game.

STAR Therapy Dogs (ages 11 and younger)
Saturday, January 14 at 10:30 a.m.
Make a furry friend, and read a book with your new pal. Certified therapy dogs and their handlers love a good story.

Lego Club (ages 11 and younger)
Saturday, January 21 at 10:30 a.m.
We supply the Legos, you supply the imagination.

Stories and a Craft (ages 11 and younger)
Saturday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m.
Listen to stories, and make a cool craft to take home.


Babygarten (ages 0-24 months with adult)
Wednesday, January 25 at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday, January 26 at 10:30 a.m.

Baby Storytime (ages 0-24 months with adult) *Registration required
Wednesdays, January 4, 11 and 18 at 10:30 a.m.

On Your Mark, Get Set... Read: Children's Summer Reading 2016




Charleston County Public Library's summer reading program is for children ages 11 and younger. Enjoy this FREE program at any of our locations from June 1 through July 31. Register online at home or at any CCPL branch, and keep track of points earned by reading or listening to a story. 
One page or one minute = one point. Earn prizes when you reach 300 points (5 hours), 900 points (15 hours) and 1800 points (30 hours).


Prize Levels:
5 hours/300 points ~ reading certificate, bookmark, sticker and Charleston RiverDogs game pass. 

15 hours/900 points ~ S.C. Reading Medal, a prize from one of our community partners - The Children's Museum of the Lowcountry, The Carolina Ice Palace, Taco Bell and Masters Studios of Self Defense - plus an entry in the Charleston RiverDogs' Field of Dreams raffle.

30 hours/1800 points ~ entry in the Grand Prize Drawing, South Carolina Aquarium ticket, Sky Zone pass and McDonald's Happy Meal coupon. 


Grand Prize Drawing: 
Sixteen lucky winners, one from each branch, will receive an amazing package that includes prizes from our generous sponsors, including the Carolina Ice Palace, South Carolina Aquarium, the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry, Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission, Charleston RiverDogs, Sky Zone Trampoline Park, Masters Studios Karate and more. Winners will be drawn Aug. 1.



Summer Reading for Babies:
Enjoy this free program designed especially for pre-readers to help build early literacy skills with simple, fun activities that parents and children can do together. Register and complete tasks to collect a board book and tote bag.

Crazy 8's Math Club: (Ages 5-9)
Thursdays in February at 4:00 pm


February 5 Glow in the Dark Geometry 
Make geometric shapes, patterns and even a pyramid using glow sticks.
February 12 Let's Get Loud 
Build a working flute and play other instruments out of random gadgets.  Then learn how to measure how loud you are 
February 19- Time of Your Life 
Find out what makes you tick by racing and doing other stunts.  Be a clock and see if you have the winning birthday!
February 26- Toilet Paper Olympics  
Get on a roll with your Olympian skills in the shot put, the long jump, and the relay race.  Maybe learn some math in the process.

February 7- Lowe's Build and Grow
Get out your tools and build something cool.  Sponsored by Lowe's. Supplies are limited.
 February 14- Family Valentine’s Day Storytime
​We will share some favorite holiday books and make a special valentine for a loved one.
February 21- Swahili Workshop with Miss Andika 
St. Andrews Celebrates African American History with a Swahili workshop presented by a founder of the Moja Arts Festival.  Miss Andika teaches Swahili words and customs in an interactive workshop.  Stay for the Plantation Singers performing in the afternoon.
 February 28- STAR Therapy Dogs

February 3- Snowpocalypse Dance Party 
Dance and play with your friends to popular songs in snow bubbles!!!​

February 24- Passport to Africa 
There are 53 countries in Africa and on the surrounding island nations.  Explore some of the customs and cultures from this wondrous continent.
