Divergent Trivia Contest

Answer trivia questions about the book Divergent, this year’s One Book Charleston County. Answer correctly and be entered to win a prize package that includes a copy of the final book in Veronica Roth’s trilogy, Allegiant, when it’s released October 22 plus an Allegiant tote bag and two tickets to hear Roth speak at YALLFest on November 9.

One Book Discussion: Divergent 
Friday, October 4 at 10:30 a.m.
Bring a friend or meet new ones to discuss the images and issues raised in Veronica Roth’s novel, Divergent. Set in the future, the book critically examines society through the eyes of a girl facing difficult life decisions and the consequences of her choices. A 15-minute author interview will be screened prior to the discussion. Light refreshments.









Online Application Lab
Monday, October 7 at 1 p.m.
Drop in, and receive stress-free help with completing online applications, including unemployment forms for the state’s Department of Employment and Workforce.









AARP Safety Driving Course
Friday, October 11 at 10 a.m.
The AARP Driver Safety course promotes safe driving and helps older drivers maintain their mobility and independence. Registration required. Call 766-2546 to register.









Friday Movie-The Book of Eli
Friday, October 18 at 1 p.m.
A post-apocalyptic tale, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind. Rated R; 118 minutes.

















Lunch and Learn: Disaster Preparedness
Monday, October 21 at 1 p.m.
Representatives from The American Red Cross provide emergency preparedness information, videos and tips on how to prepare for a disaster or emergency.








Dystopia Jeopardy
Monday, October 28 at 1 p.m.
Test your knowledge of dystopian literature and movies. Prizes to top finishers.









Musical Performance featuring Faith Lyn
Thursday, October 31 at 4:30 p.m.
Join Charleston native Faith Lyn for an engaging performance of original songs and compelling stories. A singer, songwriter and guitarist, Lyn has performed at Piccolo Spoleto, the Southern Living Taste of Charleston and the Supporting the Arts concert.
