The Forgotten Pleasure Gardens of Charleston

Before the advent of public parks, the citizens of early Charleston paid admission to visit “pleasure gardens,” where they enjoyed verdant strolls, music and refreshments. Join CCPL's historian, Dr. Nic Butler, for an illustrated tour of the peninsula's forgotten fashionable gardens from the 1760s to the 1860s.
